The Old Guy That Invented Self-Care

The Old Guy That Invented Self-Care

Self-Care isn’t just the latest in a string of internet “buzzwords”...

It’s not something that is hyped up by feminists…

In fact it’s a concept that has been around for over 2000 years…

It was Socrates the greek philosopher that first started to really make noise about the importance of “self-care”...

He was a man that has quite literally helped shape the world in which we live!

Some of his greatest work actually highlights the importance of self-care and why we SHOULD NOT feel guilty about it…

His whole mentality around it is something that really summarise that way that I think about it too…

But before this gets too crazy here is what it really comes down too…

Self-care and Self-interest are 2 VERY DIFFERENT things, one is selfless and one is selfish.

In our modern world we really get the two mixed up…

Just as a car can drive further with better fuel, we can do more with better self-care.

Self-care is putting focus, attention and thought to what makes us the very best version of ourselves.

Meanwhile, self-interest is a focus on the material or objects in our world. What can I “have” vs what can I “be”...

So when that feeling of “I don’t have enough time” or “I'll do it later” “I can wait” creeps into your head, understand without even realising you mixed the two up.

This will help you start to make regular self-care more of a priority.

Then just like a car with a full tank can go further so will you…

Hope this helps you look at it differently, it helped me.

Taking the pressure off,

Ash xx
